PRESS RELEASE

June 16, 2007

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return

It is with deep sorrow that Hejrat Foundation announces the passing away of one of the world’s great religious scholars, Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Fazel Lankarani.  We send our heart-felt condolences to the Imam of our Time, Imam Mahdi (a.j.), to all religious scholars and students, to the great people of Iran, and to all Muslims of the world.

His death is a great loss to the Iranian nation, the followers of the pure family of the Prophet, and all the Muslims of the world.  We ask Allah to cover him in His Divine Mercy, and to place him among His Holy ones.

Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Fazel Lankarani was born in 1931 in the Holy city of Qum. He studied  Islamic studies in the seminary of Qum under teachers such as Ayatollah al-Uzma Sayyid Muhammad Hussein Burujerdi, Ayatollah al-Uzma Sayyid Ruhullah Musavi Khomaini, and Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Hussayn Tabatabai.  Ayatollah Lankarani spent many years teaching in the Islamic Seminary of Qum, where his classes were very popular.  In addition to this, his lessons on Fiqh were broadcast by Iranian Radio for several years, allowing people all over the world to benefit from his vast knowledge.  After the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Lankarani was appointed as a member of The Council of Experts, and for more than 10 years, served as the administrator of the Islamic Seminary of Qum.  From the earliest of times, himself and his family have been lovers and followers of the Ahl al-Bait, Peace be upon all of them.

The Holy Prophet [s] said: "Verily, what will continue to reach a believer, after his death, from amongst his actions and good deeds are: the knowledge which he taught and spread, the righteous child whom he left behind, and the Holy script which he delivered as heritage (transcribed, and made available)."

PRESS RELEASE

June 14, 2007

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Hejrat Foundation strongly condemns the most recent attack on the Holy Shrines of Imam Ali Al-Hadi and Imam Hassan Al-Askari (Peace Be Upon Them) in Samarra, Iraq.

This action was clearly aimed to further destabilize the region.  Whoever the actual bombers were, there is no doubt about the perpetrators behind the action, and no doubt about whom the further destabilization of the region would most benefit.

It is not to the benefit of any Muslim, Sunni or Shia, to participate in or encourage  sectarian violence.  Therefore, Hejrat Foundation calls upon all Muslim brothers and sisters, worldwide, to proceed together toward peace for the betterment and advancement of all.

Hejrat Foundation calls upon all Muslims of the world to unite under the banner of Islam.  We are strong only when unified.

“And hold fast by the covenant of Allah all together and be not disunited, and remember the favor of Allah on you when you were enemies, then He united your hearts so by His favor you became brethren; and you were on the brink of a pit of fire, then He saved you from it, thus does Allah make clear to you His communications that you may follow the right way.”  (Holy Quran, 3:103)

PRESS RELEASE

May 11, 2007

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Hejrat Foundation strongly condemns the actions of Al-Jazeera Television Channel.  This TV channel has shown flagrant disregard for peace and for human life as its irresponsible actions have driven a further wedge between Sunni and Shia in Iraq, which will in all probability cause more bloodshed.

In its weekly program called "Bila Hudood" (Without Boundary) aired on Wednesday May 2, 2007, Al-Jazeera TV started a venomous attack on Grand Ayatollah Sayed Ali Al-Sistani.  The moderator, Ahmed Mansour, and his guest speakers claimed, without any proof, that Ayatollah Sistani has been cooperating with the occupation authorities, exchanging correspondence with their forces.

That these were clear lies made up to discredit him is obvious.  It is a well known fact that Ayatollah Sistani is a strong peace advocate.  In addition, Ayatollah Sistani's verdicts deeming the killing of any Muslim or innocent person a great crime, and that such actions violate the essence of the teachings of Islam are also well known.

Any clear thinking person will immediately see that the obvious result of such and an attack and false reporting will be further discord between the Sunni and Shia brethren in Iraq.  No positive result can come of these false reports; only further emnity and bloodshed.

Hejrat Foundation encourages all to protest these harmful and irresponsible actions of Al-Jazeera TV with a letter writing campaign.  You can contact Al-Jazeera at:
